Trying New York Seltzer Original Root Beer Soda

Hey YouTube, what's going on? Uh, we're back today with another Original New York Seltzer, this time we have the root beer um if you heard me remember last time there's the little mint marks in amusement. So, I wasn't a fan of when I tried the vanilla, you can find that video, it smelled nice in the bottle when I poured it out it changed and it was, it was like nabisco wafers or those vanilla grandma's cookies it was, it was alright. It wasn't my favorite. Uh, you know, I'm, I'm pretty particular about root beer and this is clear so that's gonna psychologically throw me but yeah let's uh, let's try this out.

We got Mr. Moose here, you'll pardon the water spots, we are on a well we do use a water softener because it's very much needed we have a lot of iron and sulfur in our water and as such you get spots from you know the salts you're putting into the water and the mineral content.

So again, this is Original New York Seltzer naturally flavored root beer, the choice is clear, it's their motto, it's 10 fluid ounces or 296 milliliters, there are 100 calories per bottle, zero grams of fat, five milligrams of sodium, 25 grams of carbohydrates which is 25 grams of sugar, that's total added sugars is 25 grams, no protein, not a significant source of other nutrients, bottled under the authority of the original New York Seltzer LLC Los Angeles, California. Again, I think that's a little weird New York Seltzer water bottled in LA or under the authority of some LA company. The ingredients are carbonated water, cane sugar, citric acid, and natural flavors. It's a glass bottle, it's recyclable, it's got these nice little twist cap.

So yeah, let's check this out um if I remember right the cap says something, yes it does. This one is different than the last one, "drink up we'll make more", I always like Snapple and Sobe, and I don't know if Sobe still does it, but in the late 90s early 2000s they would do this on their lids just, just amusing kind of like the, um, is it dove chocolates that have the words?

So it smells like root beer, it smells a lot like root beer, go ahead and get some here in Mr. Moose. Nice carbonation

Just get into his nose a little there, I don't know how well you guys can see this, uh, I need to get a second camera, there's a lot of carbonation again now. It kind of, now that it's out of the glass or out of the bottle into the glass, it has the same kind of smell that the last one did but it still does have a decidedly root beer scent.

I'm going to get a quick sip of water here to make sure my mouth is nice and cleared out, I filmed a gut shot right before this and it was rather potent don't want it to adulterate the flavor of this. So we'll get Mr. Moose here, again smells like a traditional root beer with just a hint of something else and, I mean that could be the carbonation having some kind of effect on the, you know, the receptors in your nose.

Yeah, all right, bottoms up! See, now it doesn't taste like what it smells like again. I don't know if that's because of the level of carbonation or if there's maybe some sort of mineral content to the water, what did they say it was just water, carbonated water yeah. It could be the amount of sugar so it kind of takes away that little bit of bite that the root beer has. And we know it's not actual root beer, it's just flavored natural flavors, whatever that is, it's not bad there's not a lot of taste there though.

It does have that slightly weird tail to the taste like the last one did, um, I'm not too familiar with seltzer water so it's probably just a trait of seltzer water. It's not something I would buy again, um, if you served it to me I would drink it if it was the only option. I'd totally drink it just like the vanilla one. Um, I think I had said that the vanilla one would go well with, uh, dessert if you had something bitter but I don't think this would. It's not very sweet, you can definitely taste the cane sugar, but the natural flavors don't make it pop as much as it did in the vanilla.

Yeah, I'm just going to wrap it up there. There's not a lot to say about this, there's a pretty pretty light flavor there, so yeah that was Original New York Seltzer naturally flavored root beer soda, thanks for stopping by. I really liked that orange thing they have, I said it tasted like Sprite, it really does taste like Sprite to me. Um, so today we have Olipop Classic root beer tonic water. It's a sparkling tonic, supports digestive health, prebiotics, botanicals, and plant fiber, plant-powered, microbiome approved, two grams of sugar per can, non-GMO, uh we'll go into the ingredients. I think i'm really a fan of this company, uh, they have two flavors that Ii'm really interested in one being this as I love root beer, if you've watched any videos before I've done root beer several times now, and I just love root beer. It takes me back to a place in my childhood in the early to mid-90s where we would go to Mug'N'Bun, which is a drive-in place next to Speedway in Indianapolis, it's I don't know 70 to 80 years old at this point, multiple owners and you know you just drive in kind of like Arf and barf Dog and Suds or Sonics but just, just an old school drive-in and you know they have a great pork tenderloin and hot dogs but they make their own in-house root beer it is so good and you would go get your root beer float or whatever and you know, so root beer takes me there and I like it and some root beer is absolute hogwash cow urine disgusting vile stuff, and some root beer is just an experience and wonderful so let's get some of this root beer, um what was it called, sparkling tonic into Mr. Moose.

Normal can sound.

First, let's smell it. Oh yeah, this, this, this smells just like a good, not like Mug'N'Bun's, kind of like Mug'N'Bun's, maybe um like Dog and Suds or IBC root beer.

Yeah, I'd say it's going from memory here it's probably close to Dog and Suds. I don't know if they're still around or if you can still get it in the bottles but we used to get it at the convenience store, yeah.

Um, I love these guys so much, and this is not sponsored at all, um these things are expensive at about three dollars a can shipped, so you know they're definitely a treat, but they do have that fiber and stuff in there which is nice I've been enjoying the orange ones I think I'm halfway through my 12-pack.

How did you smell so lovely, you can smell, you can definitely smell the vanilla in there a little.

Oh man, sorry I could sniff this all day. Let's try it. That's pleasant, um, like I said with their orange whatever it's called, it does have like a, a light taste to it. Not necessarily watered down, that would not be fair at all to say it's watered down, but it's, it's the taste you're expecting but lighter so it's not overpowering. There's no slimy sticky sugary feel because it doesn't have a lot of sugar but it still is, it's sweet enough.

Man, that is good. I need to try this with some ice cream, that would um, I feel horrible, I've dripped little drops of my precious root beer!

All right, I gotta put that down or I'm gonna drink it all. I'm gonna slurp the can, that's better, oh actually it looks like I've got some on the table too. All right we'll have to clean up, um yeah, I would buy more of this. I would absolutely buy more of this, it feels wrong paying three dollars ish for something that's 35 calories a can but I mean you are getting 36 percent of your fiber for the day, and I can, and yeah I have, I bought a 12 pack of these so I'll be trying not to drink them all, you know in a couple of days. Try to make them last, I'm definitely going to order some more though it'll be a couple of weeks probably, but yeah, Olipop man. Watching that commercial on the Buff Dudes for Olipop, because the buff dudes were sponsoring Ollipop may have been the greatest thing I've ever done. Now I kind of wonder if that fancy cereal they're always, you know, trying to promote is any good that's, that's so good. I'm gonna have some more of this. I, just sorry Mr. Moose, this is all mine!

That felt really wrong drinking it that fast, I should have savored that but I got about a half a can left. Trying Hansen's Cane Soda Root Beer

Right out of the gate I want to apologize if you hear the heat going, it is very cold outside, we are well below freezing it's pretty much turning on every few minutes, so it's kind of hard to film today. We're going to be doing this Hanson's cane soda naturally flavored, and other natural flavors root beer

This is just like a generic kind of soda it comes in a little I think six-packs maybe four-packs, little cardboard deals, I think it's four-packs, sorry for not knowing this, I bought a lot of sodas recently for this review series on drink reviews.

These, I mean, 41 grams of added sugar. You're basically drinking diabetes in a can, I'm sure it tastes lovely, it may or may not, but you know clearly someone enjoys it because they keep making it and if you drink this stuff in moderation great, but I would never advocate drinking this stuff regularly. I know this is a drink review series but uh just, just, moderation people, moderation, um a lot of people have a lot of liquid calories with this stuff, I'm preaching now you don't care so let's get on with it.

You know, the standard can sound a lot of carbonation coming out let's get some here Mr. Moose.

Definitely has a decent color for a root beer.

Smells more like root beer than, um, another one I tried which you've probably seen the video for at this point.

This definitely smells like IBC. or Dog and Suds, or Barq's root beer. It has a very classic root beer scent which is promising.

Oh yeah, that's good, it's just generic root beer. I'm not sure that's what they were going for but that's it's just generic root beer flavor.

It's, um, it's definitely not stronger than, um, a typical root beer. If anything it's a little more mellow, it doesn't have that like harsh bite that some root beers have. I think in a float this would probably get watered down a lot in flavor by whatever ice cream you're using, if you're using, you know, just vanilla or vanilla bean I think it would really take away from the flavor of this. Obviously, you have to try that yourself but definitely not what I would go for for a float based on the, uh, the drink itself, it's um, you can definitely feel the sugar in it though. I'm getting that fuzzy tongue and the, uh, the tooth film right away.

Yeah, if you have Hanson's anywhere near you definitely worth trying, um, you do have to buy like I said either four or six in a little case but it was, it was pretty cheap. I think I paid two or three dollars for four or six cans so very cost-competitive. Sorry for those of you that don't like the sound, I'm going to slurp the can, it just bothers me when there's that liquid floating around.

Yeah, sorry, I...I love root beer. I grew up next to a drive-in restaurant called Mug'N'Bun which has been in Indianapolis, it's in the Speedway area, like right on the edge of Speedway, it's been there for probably 75 or 80 years at this point, last I knew it was on its third or fourth owner in that period and they make their own root beer and it is so good and it just takes me into childhood so I love trying root beers and when they get close to that i just get happy because I'm taken back to the mid and early 90s when things were great and I was first discovering the internet and there were a bunch of fun movies that I've now watched hundreds, if not thousands, of times or at least listened to them that many times. Root beer is magical it's, it's so fun, and it's something you can make at home if you really wanted to. I might do that eventually try making some root beer, um, I imagine I would never make anything even as good as this but it could be fun.

Their little logo here with the skyline says "the choice is clear" the choice IS clear, I would not buy this again but it's not the worst thing I've had, it's not the best thing but an interesting experience. Um yeah, I kind of wonder what if their other caps say other things, "slow down on the way to the future" with the dulcet tones of background noise. I don't know if you can hear it but we have the wash going, and I really hope when I'm editing this you don't hear it. Um, eventually I'll try to improve my filming we might go back out to the living room there's a lot more stuff to grab noise we are on laminate or excuse me, not laminate but real hardwood floors, and this room is basically empty right now except for some boxes that you can't see over here like the solo stove box that Ii showed you in a previous video.

Not my favorite, um at this point I'm just rambling trying to get that viewer attention or retention up you know hope you liked my pin, if you can see it's this little wolf kind of reminds me of Hunger Games a little. Definitely would not recommend this. You might try it yourself, let me know if you have, let me know if it's your favorite or if you don't like it like I do. Trying Fresh Thyme Hibiscus Berry Nitro Tea

Hey YouTube we're here in another drink review series video. today we'll be trying this Fresh Thyme nitro tea hibiscus berry herbal tea. Uh, one thing to note this can is wrapped not printed, I noticed some of the other Fresh Thyme ones are directly printed, just something that interests me it's not going to change the taste of the drink but I found it mildly amusing. So this is just basically kind of tonic water I guess it's organic naturally caffeine-free nitrogen-infused, I'm not sure what that's going to do, i imagine that has something to do with the taste if, if, you're at all knowledgeable in like food science or something let me know in the comments I want to know why the nitrogen infusion is in there. Maybe to act as some sort of carbonation but I don't see how that would stay in there well I don't know just tell me if you know uh ingredients are filtered water organic viscous flour organic hibiscus berry tea blend which is organic rosehips, organic hibiscus flowers, organic currants, organic apples, organic elderberries, natural blueberry flavor, essential orange oil, pardon me I have to burp, and natural mango flavor. just before this I shot a probiotic video it's, it's coming up to rear it's head.

It's produced for Fresh Thyme, uh it's a can that you're supposed to keep refrigerated so it's not shelf-stable.

Tilt clam, tilt sorry I can't talk it's very early in the morning, tilt can twice before opening for best nitro effect. Okay so I think they're doing kind of like um beer that puts those little like ping pong ball things in there to give it some head, this is what I'm assuming, now bright tart and juicy this herbal tea is a delightful combination of hibiscus flowers, currants, rosehips, and elderberries. It's refreshing, naturally caffeine-free, and canned with nitrogen for a smooth and creamy mouthfeel. That's what I said. Grab a can for the road or watch the nitrogen bubbles cascade as you pour it into a pint glass. Well, I don't have a pint glass, what I do have is the Christmas Vacation eggnog glass. Got this at Goodwill for two dollars so we'll be, uh sorry for the water spots we're on a well, uh this is gonna be our drink glass just because it's fun, um that's interesting his nose is actually part of the glass where you can drink, so I think I'll tilt him this way for a second so you guys can see this. It's not quite floral but it it does remind me of medicine as a child you would get medicine, and it would be liquid, and it would certainly have a flavor kind of like this this isn't something I would drink regularly. It's not bad but if any of those ingredients are something you'd like, I mean it's it's not terrible, it might be worth trying if you have a Fresh Thyme near you obviously it's made for them so you're going to find in Fresh Thyme stores

but yeah not bad it's it's pretty weak

I've used herbal teas in the past from Mountain Rose Herbs,

They have some that are supposed to be for like bedtime and stuff that I've, I've, tried and liked and I will add things like, uh, red clover because I like that flavor that are in parts and I'll usually make it pretty strong this is definitely weaker than I would brew in a herbal tea but yeah not bad. Five calories per serving which is the entire can, zero grams of fat, no sodium, one grams of carbohydrates, no fiber, no protein, two percent of your calcium which is 13 milligrams, two percent of your potassium which is 55 milligrams, and that's it it's basically flower water so yeah not my favorite thing. Definitely not going to buy it again but if I was somewhere and I was only going to drink I'd have no problem drinking this it's just not not my cup of tea if you'll pardon me expression. Uh, yeah, I won't include links to this it's just Fresh Thyme, it's a grocery you either have it near you or you don't, sorry if you don't you might look up other teas that kind of follow the ingredients list. Trying the Gut Power Probiotic Kulture Shot by Steve's PaleoGoods (drink review)

Hey YouTube what's going on? Uh, doing another drink review here in the drink review series, we have a probiotic gut powder or gut power, sorry it's really early in the morning , it is the beet ginger boost from Steve's PaleoGoods. These are like probiotic, uh, gut shots with beets, distilled water, ginger, Celtic sea salt, live active culture, and organic ingredients. I always like Steve's PaleoGoods because they have a buffalo chicken jerky that's really good, and he gives like 15 of his proceeds to this like program to help kids and stuff that he's developed you can read about it on his website, but out of curiosity I wanted to try these I did try one the other day off camera and it was uh it was, it was very strong that's you could taste the beets it wasn't this specific one but I got a sampler pack and I tried one and I thought I'd try the other three on camera so here we go in our drink review series it's you know just a little refrigerated probiotic shot. So I have my handy dandy water here because the last one was pretty potent so let's go ahead and give this a try. The plastic off there um I did shake this a little beforehand because it had settled some definitely something I'd recommend. Oh that uh, uh, it, it smells like when you open a can of, of creamed corn. it's I'm guessing that's the beets so we're gonna have my water here on the ready.

Uhhh bottoms up, that, yeah that's, yeah uh oh yeah yeah I gotta finish this hold on, that is very, uh, pungent, strong, yeah it's immediately making me snot up because my body is like what did you just drink. The taste did go away with a little bit of the water though. So the nutrition facts you have a serving size of one bottle uh there's 20 calories in the bottle, 55 milligrams of sodium probably just for taste, 1 gram of sugars, no protein, 35 your daily value of vitamin A, 6 percent of your vitamin C, 2 percent of your calcium, uh if you hear a loud noise sorry the heat just kicked on it is like eight degrees outside, eight degrees Fahrenheit outside which is well below freezing for celsius folks, we're in that cold snap whatever that's going on when this video went up, and then uh yeah 8 percent of your iron. So yeah, if, if you're interested in a probiotic product, this is this isn't sponsored, um I don't know the efficacy of it in your gut is to improve your biome but the taste is miserable as it's going down, it's mostly gone away now, so yeah maybe check it out. Definitely not my favorite thing to drink but, you know, I've never eaten well and my wife and I have been trying to eat a little bit better as I've said in other videos trying to do more of a whole food plant-based thing. Not all the time, I like my meat, don't get me wrong I respect people that don't eat meat and I know the environmental impact of meat. Meat is kind of bad but I like it, but I'm trying to like repair my dead health or presumably, that's what I'm trying to do so I've been trying to introduce, you know, living cultures of probiotics to kind of help my digestive system maybe go from years of abusing it with highly processed and garbage foods and I drank alcohol heavily for years and years and I'm sure that didn't do great things for my gut microbiome so yeah check that out probiotic gut power beat ginger boost.
